It's July, and can you believe how quickly summer is flying by? Where did the time go? Just yesterday, I was celebrating the freedom of not having to rise at dawn for school runs, and now, here we are, gearing up for the mid-year straddle. You know the one, where one minute you're basking in summer cookouts and the next you're shopping for school supplies. June just zipped past with lots of joyful moments. Clifton and I celebrated 20 years of wedded bliss to kick us off. Lucy (from Betty, you might know her) celebrated her graduation from South Meck and is reveling in an absolutely glorious "senior summer." Imagine this: sunny days at the beach with her lifelong buddy Kate (also part of the Betty crew!), endless late-night gatherings, and even managing a slew of babysitting gigs to fund her college dreams. She's off to SCAD come September, so we're soaking up all the moments we can with her this summer!
We enjoyed a brief reunion with our oldest, Isabella, before she jetted off to Europe with her Furman Volleyball team. Europe seems to embrace her as warmly as I embraced Italy last April; it’s truly heartwarming to watch your child broaden their world! Yet, she'll return to college by July 8 and start her Sophmore year.
Meanwhile, Vivian is absolutely thriving—embracing life enthusiastically! At this moment, she's at Foxcroft School immersed in a horseback riding camp. We were thrilled to receive videos of her confidently riding a chunk of a horse and mingling with a lively bunch of Fox Hounds; she’s even plotting to bring one home! Did I mention our household chaos with two dogs and a stray cat that remains secluded for its safety?
Ah, and then there’s Nova the cat, finding solace with Violet, our youngest. They both enjoy their peace, lounging and sleeping on their own terms. Violet seems content, though she might disagree as she’s soon off to volleyball camp—oh, the drama! By the way, as you've been so kind to read along this far, we are about to embark on our only family vacation to BHI for a week to cherish these swift-moving summer days. Ahhh, the ocean air is calling.
