Palopo Mug
Handcrafted in the lakeside village of San Antonio Palopó, this white Guatemalan beer mug is a functional work of art. Each piece is meticulously hand-painted by local artisans using techniques inspired by the legendary ceramicist Ken Edwards, ensuring that no two mugs are exactly alike.
These mugs are crafted from high-quality volcanic clay sourced from the riverbeds near Lake Atitlán. San Antonio Pattern: The hand-painted "palopo" design often features intricate blue and earthy-toned motifs, such as teardrops or floral patterns, inspired by indigenous Tz'utujil Mayan culture. The high-firing process at 1100°F ensures a durable, lead-free finish that is suitable for both artistic display and everyday heavy use.
